Lina Lee

Lina Lee – Associate International Director

Fluent in Korean and English.

Associate Director Lina Lee is perfectly placed to help International Students adjust to the demands of a new country and new culture. She’s been in that exact situation herself, coming to Canada on her own when she was only 15 years old. Now Lina regularly shares her wisdom and expertise with International Students at the Blanche Macdonald Centre.

Having landed in Canada with limited English skills, Lina went on to excel academically, gaining her Bachelor of Social Sciences (Economics) with a Concentrated Business Option at the University of Victoria. Upon graduation she worked as a translator with German technology company before travelling to Korea to fulfil her passion for education as an English teacher, training her colleagues and assisting international instructors with their integration into Korean culture.

After returning to Vancouver in 2011 as an Admissions Representative at a post-secondary college, when the opportunity arrived for Lina to join the Blanche Macdonald team, it was the perfect match.

“I love working with our International Students,” she explains. “It’s easy to feel homesick. I show students that it’s possible to be strong and independent.”

Lina is based at the Vancouver - Atelier Campus and can be contacted by phone at 604.685.5560 or by email at

Suggi Zhou – International Marketing Coordinator

Fluent in Mandarin and English.

“I’ve had a lot of the same experiences that our International students will have coming to study in a new country. My favourite part of my job is putting myself in their shoes – I love to listen to their stories and work out how I can best help them.” - Suggi

International Marketing Coordinator Suggi Zhou’s expertise is equalled only by her compassion. Having made the journey to Canada from Beijing on her own, she found a warm mentor in her homestay owner, who helped her through the initial language barrier. Suggi understands how challenging it can be to adjust to a new culture and how important it is to have someone support you through the process. She has made it her mission to play a guiding role for all of our students here at Blanche Macdonald. Her kindness and patience is evident.

Suggi joins our team with her Masters in Global Management from Royal Roads University in Victoria – where she excelled in everything from International Business Strategy, to Marketing and Accounting – as well as a Bachelor’s degree in International Business and Trade from the Canvard Institute of Beijing Technology & Business University.

International Marketing and Admissions Manager, Venus Ko.

Venus Ko – International Marketing and Admissions Manager

Fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English.

Education and Empathy are two words that embody Marketing and Admissions Manager Venus Ko. She loves helping people, and her particular compassion for International Students stems from her own experience of living between Vancouver and Hong Kong throughout her life.

“I understand that being away from home is really hard, because my parents are also in Hong Kong. So I can relate to International Students and help them feel comfortable and safe – to say that it’s okay to miss home, I miss home as well.”

Venus joins the team with a Double Major BA in History and Environment & Society from UBC, and a professional background as Admissions Advisor, Brand Ambassador and ESL Tutor.
